2009-2013 年度教会目標
日米合同教会は、特にニューヨーク市近郊に住む日本人並びに日本に関心を寄せる人々に、礼拝、交わり、学び、伝道・宣教の業を通してキリストの福音をのべ伝え、キリスト者として共に信仰を深めていくことを目的とする信仰共同体です。
5 年の間に次のような具体的なプランの実施を提案しています。
①宣教のために教会リソースの10%を捧げる。
②教会員の霊的成長を助けるためにスモール・グループへの参加を奨める。
③ニューヨーク市近郊に住む次世代の日本人並びに日本に関心を寄せる人々に働きかける。
JAUC (Japanese American United Church) is the result of a merger of
three historic Japanese Christian churches (two Reformed and one Methodist)
in the heart of New York City. The earliest of these congregations was
founded in 1894 and was dedicated to Japanese seamen settled in Brooklyn.
The merger of the three churches took place formally in September 1953 and we have occupied our present building since 1970. Located in the heart of new York City, the church has a long history of service to the Japanese American community and continues to serve many permanent residents, visitors and new comers from Japan and other parts of the United States.
JAUC is the only bilingual (English and Japanese) church in Manhattan. We serve the Japanese speaking pioneer Issei, English speaking Nisei and Sansei, newly arrived Japanese immigrrants, Japanese college students and other New Yorkers of various ethnic backgrounds who share an affinity with Japanese culture and the Christian community.
