In
1973 Rev. Suzuki and his wife Elizabeth were appointed to Japan as United
Methodist Missionaries. He taught Christian studies as professor and dean
of chaplains at Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo. He also served as a
cooperative pastor at Komaba Eden Church until his retirement in 2004.
Since August, 2006, he has been interim pastor at Japanese-American United
Church.
Mrs.
Elizabeth Suzuki graduated from college in Ohio and received a Master’s
degree from Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Virginia. As
a UMC missionary in Japan, she taught English at Aoyama Gakuin Junior
College and Keisen Women’s University. For many years she was also
involved in crisis counseling. Elizabeth was an active member of Tokyo
Union Church and served on missions and worship programs. She and Rev.
Suzuki have three adult children, Naomi, Sarah and Jonathan, who live
in the U.S. |
